A security assessment is an audit that is designed to find vulnerabilities that are at risk of being compromised and could cause harm to business operations, or leak sensitive information. Vulnerabilities can come in various forms and are constantly changing with new technology, viruses, and applications; but they can be categorized into three categories. External, internal, and social. Network Security should be a top priority for all organizations and security assessments should be conducted regularly.
A network assessment is performed with the purpose to measure, analyze, and document a client network’s functionality and performance. Areas of assessment include:
- Local Area Network (wired and wireless)
- Wide Area Network
- TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, and other network protocols
- Operations support systems
- Security
The information collected during the assessment will be analyzed, compared against recommended practices, and incorporated into an assessment final report. The report will be provided to the client for review and discussion.
